In May 2008, ITAL-KOL launched in Romania a new and revolutionary product for the specialized market, ELASTOCEM 1K.

ELASTOCEM 1K is a waterproofing mortar used for the protection, sealing and waterproofing of concrete, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete structures, including flush structures or structures exposed to aggressive chemical agents, cement screeds and coatings. ELASTOCEM 1K is the monocomponent version of the bicomponent

ELASTOCEM, manufactured by ITAL-KOL since 2005, and currently certified both for civil applications (terraces, balconies, bathrooms, swimming pools, basins etc) and applications regarding road, train and naval infrastructure (bridges, viaducts, roadways etc).

While ELASTOCEM requires (for its preparation) mixing a liquid synthetic resin with the predosed mortar, the new ELASTOCEM 1K is ready for use only by mixing it with water, being thus more easy to prepare. Therefore, the new product completes the ElastoSISTEM product range, used for the following:

- the waterproofing protection carried out by filling reinforced concrete structures which could come into contact with salts and calcium or sodium chloride, sea water and sulphatic salts;

- waterproofing and elasticity protection, carried out by filling, against aggressive atmospheric agents (CO2, SO2, carbon anhydride), of elastic structures made of reinforced concrete, beams, prestressed beams which are exposed to crazing risk caused by loads;

- waterproofing and insulation for interior and exterior surfaces on concrete water tanks, balconies, bathrooms, terraces and pools;

- filling-based protection against aggressive atmospheric agents, of plasters and concrete types which present hardening contraction cracks;

- protection and waterproofing of the road and industrial infrastructure made of concrete, reinforced concrete / prestressed reinforced concrete, cement screeds (for example: protection against the carbonation, against the action of CO2,or SO2 or against the aggressive solutions used for de-icing such as CaCl2 or NaCl, for de-icing piers, beams, poles, on bridges, roadways or road and train viaducts and reinforced concrete structures which have a small degree of covering iron).

- waterproofing of tracks on bridges, viaducts and roadways or railway crossing;

- waterproofing of flush reinforced concrete elements and structures used for foundation of bridges, viaducts, roadways and railway crossing.

Products in this range ensure undeniable advantages when compared to conventional membrane or bituminous solutions. The advantages of these products result from the strength, increased life and adhesion as well as from the water vapour permeability which is about 1000 times better. Simultaneously, the techniques of applying such products require less effort while the surrounding conditions for this operation are less rigorous.

The products in the ElastoSISTEM range, manufactured by ITAL-KOL, used for the protection and waterproofing of structures made from concrete, reinforced concrete or prestressed concrete, for developing road and train infrastructure, lead to an increased life of such structures and substantially minimize the frequency of repairs and rehabilitation works, reducing at the same time maintenance costs.
